Alert - Phishing/E-mail Scam
Transportation
Federal Credit Union has learned of an e-mail fraud attempt,
known as "Phishing," that is initiated via e-mail
and that appears to be from the Credit Union.
This
false e-mail asks for the recipient to reactivate their card.
The false e-mail claims that the Credit Union has had to deactivate
the member's card and that he/she needs to reactivate by calling
the number provided in the e-mail or asks the member to click
on a link to reactivate the card by filling out an authentication
form.
TFCU
does not ask members for personal information via e-mail. Anyone
who receives an e-mail that purports to be from TFCU and asks
for any personal or account information should consider it to
be a fraudulent attempt to obtain their personal account data
for an illegal purpose and should not follow the instructions
in the e-mail.
Anyone who
received one of these phishing e-mails and responded to it should
contact the credit union as soon as possible by calling (202)
366-9400 or (800) 368-8432.
If
you feel that you have received a fraudulent phishing e-mail
purportedly from TFCU please forward the entire e-mail message
to info@transfcu.org.
Forwarding the email to this address allows TFCU to notify the
appropriate authorities and can help track down those responsible
for attempted fraud. Thanks for your help!
